Bye Felicia
I remember the first time I saw the movie Friday. Middle teenage years in the basement of my aunt’s house with my brother and cousins. We honestly rented it on a but of a lark… we knew nothing about it, but saw Ice Cube on the cover of the VHS case in Blockbuster (yes… I am VHS at Blockbuster years old). We threw it into the VCR and proceeded to laugh our butts off. Ice Cube, who penned the original script, created amazing characters with unforgettable lines. Despite the complete lack of connection between our white, suburban upbringing and the urban setting of the film, we connected with the story and hung on every single word. Pretty sure we ended up watching it twice that night. So, what does that have to do with this painting, you may ask? I don’t know, but, man, Friday was a good movie!
